Happy Earth Day

It's Earth Day.

Do you want to know what one of the best ways to protect the Earth is? I'll tell you. It's going to a plant based diet!

You don't even need to go 100% plant based - just a little more plant based than you are currently.

Switching to a plant based diet is probably one of the most impactful AND easiest things you can do for the Earth. But you can also buy things locally from mom and pop shops, boycott large multinational corporations (polluters), drive a fuel efficient car, join a CSA farm, bike/walk to more places instead of driving, compost kitchen waste, and recycle. Also, try to use less plastic.

It's so easy to be more Earth friendly and a win-win. The main obstacle is ignorance about how to do it. But here's the thing - you have a giant library at your finger tips that you can use to figure it out. It's called the Internet and you should spend five minutes using it to identify ways you can be more Earth friendly.

Don't forget to fast from social and mainstream media (SMSM) regularly too. Those server farms that house and run SMSM use a ridiculous amount of energy.

Take care.

Protest via Boycott and Voting With Your Dollars

I encourage people to protest the oligarchy/patriarchy through boycotting it and voting with their dollars, instead of mass in-person protesting. Yes, you could go to an actual physical protest against fascist authoritarianism with thousands of other people, but honestly, what good would it do? No one that can make a difference cares and the fascist authoritarians certainly do not care. Your participation has a negligible to potentially harmful effect (especially if the fascist authoritarians decide to punish you).

You'd actually be better off protesting through intentional self care activities (which might include buying less stuff). The effect of self care is about the same as the effect that protesting has on defeating the bad guys, which is to say pretty much zero effect. But viewed more globally, self care has an entropy reducing advantage over protesting (which may increase entropy). Self care has a significant net positive impact on your health, well being, and quality of life (unlike protesting, which may feel good in the moment, but has not long term reward). It also has the advantage of happening behind the scenes and under the radar, so it's much harder for the bad guys to push back on it.

As an example, one could argue quite convincingly that my vegan diet and bike commuting (instead of driving) have a significantly greater impact on climate change than me attending a protest against global warming ever could. So, if I do those things INTENTIONALLY as a form of passive protest, it makes a bigger difference. I encourage everyone to protest in this way, because the impact will be additive, amounting to basically a General Strike against the evil-doers (i.e., The Man).

Think on it.

Fortuitous Discovery

I have completely disenfranchised social and mainstream media (SMSM) from my life for the past 10 days, as part of a SMSM fasting challenge. In so doing, I realized I had also inadvertently disenfranchised most toxicity from my life. SMSM, as it turns out, is currently one of the only places where toxicity impacts my life. It's good to know that almost 100% of all toxicity is contained to SMSM now. That makes it easy to compartmentalize and dismiss. The rest of my life is quite detoxified, by comparison to SMSM. That was a brilliant discovery.

I am boycotting all media until they clean up their act and detoxify.

I encourage you to try it.
